Smoking - The single most important thing a smoker can do for thier health and the health of those around them is to quit smoking. The act of quiting will give you more engery, food will taste better and you will lower your risk of heart disease, lung cancer, stroke and emphsyena.

Diabetes - Diabetes is a condition in which your body is unable to use food properly and sugar builds up in your blood. Most non-white adults have a high risk of developing diabetes. If you are over forty, obese, have a family history of diabetes, are a couch potato, have high blood prssure or have high cholestrol you are a prime canidate for diabetes. Diabetes can result in many complications if left untreated or unmanaged. These include heart disease, stroke, hypertension, blindness, kidney disease and amputation. The best way to prevent diabetes is to eat a healty diet, avoiding foods that are high in fats and salty, exercise regularly, avoid tabacco products, have regular medical check-ups, and be aware of the signs and symptoms of the diease which are excessive urination, thirst, and appetite, fatigue and blurred vision. Prostate Cancer - If you are African American and over the age of 40, you should be tested anually. Testing usually includes both a blood test and a rectal examination.
